EEM™ technology

SensoMotoric Instruments (SMI) has developed a special interface to integrate SMI Eye Tracking data with the expressive and affective states of the Emotive EPOC neuroheadset. By adding eye tracking to EEM™ we know where someone was looking when the brain reacts in a certain way.

Aligning the time stamps of both systems allows synchronizing and merging eye tracking data with the expressive and affective states delivered by the Emotive EPOC system. In the analysis, the amount of visual attention combined with the emotional response of users can be related to objects on the presented stimuli using the dynamic areas of interest tool of SMI BeGaze analysis software. In addition, SMI Eye Tracking software automatically provides data on changes in pupil dilation.

For data collection, EEM™ relies on the SMI RED remote eye tracking device – especially suited to co-registrate eye tracking and EEG data due to its contact-free system design which avoids electrical interference.
